CUT 2025 Convocation Election

About the 2025 Elections

The Convocation AGM is scheduled for 13 September 2025

The purposes of the Annual General Meeting is:

  • To confirm the results of the e-election for the Convocation Exco.
  • The Registrar announces the results of elections conducted prior to the meeting.
  • It serves as the platform where the outcome of the elections is endorsed.
  • Unsuccessful candidates are informed by the Registrar within a reasonable time after the AGM.
  • Appointment letters are issued by the Registrar shortly after the AGM has endorsed the election outcome.
  • It is where the secure online voting system’s results are officially confirmed.

Convocation Executive Committee (Exco)

The Convocation Executive Committee (Exco) positions to be elected are as follows:

Nomination Rules

  1. Who can nominate or be nominated?

    • Only verified members of the Convocation (CUT alumni) may nominate or stand for election.

    • Nominations by non-members are invalid.

  2. Nomination submission requirements:

    • Completed nomination form (on the prescribed template).

    • Abridged CV of the nominee.

    • Written acceptance and consent from the nominee.

    • Two supporting signatures (a proposer and a seconder).

  3. Restrictions:

    • No one may sign a nomination form more than once.

    • The same person cannot act as both proposer and seconder for the same candidate.

    • Self-nominations are not allowed (you cannot nominate or second yourself).

  4. Multiple nominations:

    • A member may be nominated for more than one vacancy.

    • If elected to one position, all other nominations for that member fall away.

    • The candidate will be appointed to the position for which they received the most votes.

  5. Nominee requirements:

    • Must submit a vision statement along with the acceptance form.

    • Must meet eligibility criteria (alumni in good standing, not CUT staff/student, no insolvency or criminal conviction, etc.).

Voting Phase
Opens Tuesday 09 September 2025 8:00 – Closes: Wednesday, 01 September 2025 23:59

How to vote Steps by step:

Step 1: Go to the voting website: https://cut.emca.co.za
Step 2: Log in with your email and South African ID number
  • A PIN will be sent to your email (check spam if needed).
  • Enter the PIN and verify your email if prompted.
Step 3: Review the candidates’ profiles and manifestos.
Step 4: Cast your vote (multi-ballot election)
  • Click the Vote tab ( https://cut.emca.co.za/vote ).
  • Click Start Voting (Green Button).
  • Select your preferred candidate (orange radio button).
  • Only one candidate per ballot. (President, Deputy President and Additional Member)
Step 5: Confirm your vote
  • Click Next → Confirm Vote (Green Button).
  • A “Thank you for voting” message will confirm submission.
